POLYWEL PEEK

PEEK (KetaSpire® polyetheretherketone)

PEEK (Polyetheretherketone) is commonly used in metal replacement applications for its durability against high temperatures and wear. Learn more about PEEK properties and applications below.

PEEK (KetaSpire® polyetheretherketone)

PEEK or polyetheretherketone resin offers engineers a high-performance, extremely durable thermoplastic that suits challenging applications in multiple industries. PEEK is chemically resistant at high temperatures, superior compared to most other chemically resistant plastics. In addition, its mechanical properties and flexural modulus ranks above most other plastic resins. PEEK’s properties provide resistance to abrasive and fatigue wear, while also providing high strength and excellent resistance to high temperatures.

PEEK maintains its strength and durability, even under exposure to water and/or pressurized steam. Glass and carbon fillers help create variants of PEEK which increase its strength and thermal stability. PEEK is also flame resistant, generates low levels of smoke or toxic gases under fire conditions. Due to these superior properties, flexibility, and durability, PEEK is actively used in metal replacement applications.

Performance Plastics’ Expertise for Injection Molded PEEK Parts

Our specialized, patented technologies give Polywel Plastics the ability to injection mold high-performance plastics such as PEEK into small parts with tight tolerances and complex geometries.

As a certified supplier of several resin manufacturers, Polywel Plastics carries a variety of PEEK resins in different formulations utilizing fillers that give it greater strength and thermal stability. These relationships allow us to offer you the best, customized solution using high performance thermoplastics for your most challenging project applications.

Different Grades of PEEK for Difficult Applications

PEEK’s combination of strength, impact resistance and other outstanding physical properties make it an excellent choice to replace metal parts used in challenging environments.

Applications for PEEK Utilization

PEEK is an incredibly durable and versatile high-performance plastic for demanding and challenging industrial applications that require parts that can withstand high temperatures, high pressure, high impact, corrosion and friction or wear.

PEEK is used to replace metal or supply durable parts in multiple industries including aerospace, alternative energy, automotive, chemical and pharmaceutical, fiber optics, medical and oil & gas.

Demanding Applications Demand a Polymer Like PEEK

Aerospace/Defense: PEEK supplies an optimal solution for aerospace applications that require lightweight material with great tensile and load strength. PEEK is comparable to titanium and steel for those characteristics. It also offers high heat resistance, is chemically unreactive and mechanically strong. Its semi-crystalline structure provides it with high creep and fatigue resistance. PEEK supplies a lightweight alternative to metal parts without sacrificing durability for items within the asset’s interior that incur a lot of wear.

Medical: We manufacture thermoplastic components that offer biocompatibility, most specifically using PEEK for applications including syringes and plungers, seals, vials, closures and fittings, storage bottles and insulin pump cartridges.

Oil & Gas:  PEEK’s chemical resistance, durability and self-lubricating properties supply a thermoplastic parts solution for parts such as spools, sealing applications, nozzles, gaskets, and torque loadings.
